Terms of Service
Effective June 11, 2026
Welcome to pal.fun. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Pal.Fun (“pal.fun,” “we,” “us”), the operator of the pal.fun service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use pal.fun.
1. What pal.fun is
pal.fun lets you create and talk with an AI companion (a “pal”) whose personality and memory are stored as readable files you can inspect at any time. Your pal runs on a large language model accessed through an API key you provide (see “Your API key” below). pal.fun is a software service; your pal is a character generated by an AI model, not a real person, and not a substitute for professional advice.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By using pal.fun you represent that you meet this age requirement and that the information you give us is accurate. If you create a pal for or on behalf of a child, you do so as the responsible adult and you are accountable for that use. We do not knowingly allow accounts for children under 13.
3. Your account
You’re responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your login secure. pal.fun signs you in by emailed link, so keep access to your email address safe. Tell us promptly at hello@pal.fun if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
4. Your API key (BYOK)
pal.fun uses a “bring your own key” model. You connect your own API key from an AI provider (such as Anthropic or OpenAI), and your pal’s conversations are processed by that provider under your own account and subject to that provider’s terms and usage policies. You are responsible for your provider account, any usage charges it incurs, and complying with your provider’s rules. We encrypt your key at rest and use it only to operate your pal. We are not your AI provider and are not responsible for the provider’s availability, output, or billing.
5. Your content
“Your content” means what you put into pal.fun and what your pal creates with you — messages, identity and memory files, calendar entries, library items, and the like. You keep ownership of your content. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display it solely to provide the service to you. You’re responsible for your content and for having the right to share it with us.
6. Acceptable use
Please use pal.fun decently. You agree not to:
- use the service for anything illegal, or to harm, harass, threaten, or exploit anyone — especially minors;
- try to make your pal produce content that sexually exploits minors, facilitates serious violence, or provides instructions for weapons or other dangerous harm;
- attempt to break, probe, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, or bypass its security or rate limits;
- use the service to generate spam, malware, or content that infringes others’ rights;
- impersonate someone else or misrepresent your affiliation.
pal.fun has safety boundaries built into every pal that we don’t remove on request. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
7. pal.fun Plus (subscription)
Meeting and talking with your pal is free. pal.fun Plus is an optional paid subscription that unlocks the skills marketplace — the calendar, the library, and other skills — across all of your pals. You subscribe from your account settings, and the price and billing interval (monthly or yearly) are shown at checkout before you confirm.
- Payment. Subscriptions are processed by our third-party payment processor. We don’t see or store your full card details.
- Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize these recurring charges.
- Cancel anytime. You can cancel from your account settings (via the billing portal). Cancellation stops future renewals; your Plus access continues through the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- Price changes. We may change the subscription price; if we do, we’ll give notice and the new price applies to your next renewal, never the current one.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partial periods. That said, we aim to be fair — if something went wrong, email hello@pal.fun. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
Separately, because the AI itself runs on your own API key, the cost of model usage is always between you and your AI provider — pal.fun Plus does not cover it.
8. Not professional advice
Your pal may talk about health, legal, financial, or emotional topics, but it is not a licensed professional and its output can be wrong. Don’t rely on it for decisions that need a qualified expert. If you are in crisis or danger, contact local emergency services or a crisis line right away.
9. Availability and changes
pal.fun is offered “as is” and “as available.” We’re a small team and the service may change, break, or go down. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these Terms; if we make material changes we’ll update the effective date and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use pal.fun after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Termination
You can delete your pals or your whole account at any time from your settings — deletion is real and removes the associated data. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the service or others.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, pal.fun and Pal.Fun disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or US $100. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts located there, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
